Metropolitan Community College, Omaha, Nebraska. I’ve been with Metropolitan Community College for almost 11 years, and I’ve been in the scholarship role for almost 2 years.

We award over 6 million dollars in scholarship funds annually to students, with around 160-170 different scholarship funds available at a time. Our school operates on a quarter system, and we award scholarships every quarter.

AwardSpring provides us the ability to use one scholarship application throughout the whole year, though we review each quarter. This allows students to easily apply for scholarships at any time during the year.

The support we’ve received from AwardSpring has been incredible. Every time we reach out, we have always received very good and timely feedback–usually within an hour or less.

This really helps us serve our students quickly, too. Plus, when we make suggestions, AwardSpring support really listens and considers them.

We used to make a lot of phone calls to try and encourage students to accept scholarships. With AwardSpring, we now send students texts, and there’s a clear difference in response rates.

Last year, we received just over 6800 completed applications, which is almost doubled from the year before! AwardSpring has clearly been impactful for students.

The review process has also become much easier with AwardSpring. It used to be very manual, with scoring done using spreadsheets, which was really cumbersome.

Now, we get feedback that reviewing through AwardSpring is very easy and simple, and it saves staff time. If I had to name the top 3 benefits we’ve gotten from AwardSpring, they would be the ease of the application, the email and texting functions, and the flexibility of use.

Being able to both mass text and email students and then track our communications with individual users has been incredibly helpful. We love using the different reports available, including custom reports.

It’s also super helpful that we can impersonate students on the platform, so if a student leaves one simple thing incomplete on an application, like their location, for example, we can easily fill it out for them. We’ve customized our teacher recommendation section too, so instead of just asking teachers to upload their recommendation letter, we have also created questions for them to answer so we can get very specific info about their students.

Overall, AwardSpring has allowed us to streamline our work with an easy to use, intuitive system. We have pretty much everything we need for our scholarship process in one software, and when we can’t figure something out, AwardSpring is always there for us.
