Before we found AwardSpring, we were managing all of our scholarships on paper. It took up a lot of time and wasn’t the most efficient, so we knew that we had to explore new scholarship management.
We did look at several companies, but the others were all either too big and required us to use too many features that we don’t need at our size, or they were too costly. AwardSpring was just right.
The AwardSpring team was very helpful during the implementation process. They were communicative and quick when we asked questions, and they guided us on several Zoom meetings so that we felt trained and ready to take on the first scholarship cycle when it was time.
The increase in the number of applications we’ve received has been huge. Before AwardSpring, we were getting anywhere from 1-10 applications for our 3 largest scholarship endowments, that was a problem for us.
After year one at AwardSpring, we had 38 completed applications. This last year, we jumped to 52 for our main scholarships.
It’s been great PR for the foundation, the school system, and the scholarships. I actually believe that the PR we received about all the new scholarships we got during our first year with AwardSpring is why we have even more scholarships this year.
Everyone is also super happy with the online application and application review process. It’s nice and efficient, and it’s much, much easier for the kids to use.
They can even apply on their phones if they want to. We’ve also been developing new rubrics for reviewing applications, and the AwardSpring system can easily adapt to them.
We’ve been very pleased. I’ve already suggested AwardSpring to people that I know in other school districts, and we anticipate that our scholarships will only continue to increase.
It’s been fun!
